How to remove stern drive when drive shaft spline is stuck.?
I have a Volvo 280 I am trying to remove from the boat. The drive shaft is stuck in the spline. I was able to remove the 4 bolts from the top bearing and revove the stern. Now I am stuck with a drive shaft that will not come out. Any suggestions?
It sounds funny, but we would put a chain or cable around the yoke and tie it to a anchor (steel beam) and then pull the boat (on a trailer) away from the beam. It would come out every time. OR you can pull the engine, and remove the bell housing. That gives you a little room ot put WD40 on the shaft.
